{nicknames}

I have had quite a few over the years. I was called Meme by Laura when she was little because she couldn't say Emily. It then developed into Emma, which she and my Dad still call me. I was actually called Emma quite a lot when I was living in Vidalia and it was kind of odd going to college and not hearing anyone call me that anymore. My Dad also called me Tyrone when I was little, I don't know why other than to tick me off. In high school we gave each other nick names in 5th period Civics one year an I was Bobbin-Weave because my pony tail bounces around when I walk. In college I was called Tater Cater by a friend who is now our local meteorologist. When I started working at Sage I became Emilio some how...mainly because it ticked me off. But over the years Em has been what most teachers have called me, minus Mr. Hathaway...he called me Auntie Em. But that was only because I refused to pick a Spanish name because Adriel told me it was the name of their maid in Honduras, go figure. His family actually called us Emadriel because we spent so much time together in high school.Adriel's nephew called me E-meme for the same reason Laura called me Meme, that is why I decided I wanted Joshua to just call me Meme

I'm sure there are more, just can't remember what they are at the moment.

{Something you miss}

{nanny & pop-christmas 2008}

Nanny, I miss my Nanny. So much has happened in the past year that Mom and I always say Nanny would have enjoyed...or that we just wish she was around to participate in the hoopla.

1.   My Halloween plans this year will include       taking the baby to Trunk r Treat, he is a hotdog & Laura and I are mustard and ketchup    .

2.  My most memorable Halloween costume was   when I was Bell from Beauty and the Beast and Mom tried to make me wear a sweat shirt and pants under my pretty yellow gown. I refused and stubbornly froze my tush off around the block  .

3.  For Halloween this year I'm going to be       mustard, against my will. I look like a jaundice baby that someone needs to drop off at the hospital in yellow    .

4.  I've always wanted to dress up as    a dead bride  .

5.  Halloween free association!      caramel apples, ghost, Hocus Pocus, Rocky Horror Picture Show, candy, black cats, pumpkins .

6.  The worst thing about Halloween is        those dumb high school kids that egged one one year   .

7.  The best thing about Halloween is       the Disney movies: Under Wraps and Hocus Pocus, and all the candy      .

{Something you regret}

I regret not actually trying my freshmen year of college. I have paid big time for that one.

There are a few other things I regret that I don't feel like putting on here. But one thing I do regret that was actually a mature financial decision was canceling our Germany trip. I actually had gotten irritated with how may interviews Jer had been on and still wasn't getting a job. {This was a rough year to start teaching in our area, lot more cuts than hires} I got so frustrated that I decided there was no way he would get a job and emailed J's history professor and told her we weren't going to be able to go.

The next day he got a job.

Just one more thing showing me I give up hope to early. But at the same time we needed to save this fall...who new the junk we'd unknowingly have to pay for. They go every year, so there is always next year.

Do you know the downside to a public blog?

It is when you really want to talk about something but can't because you don't know who reads it. School has been tough lately. Real tough. A whole new breed of tough for me. I want  to put it on here because it is one of the only ways I feel better about things...but who the heck knows who reads this thing.

All I can say is why doesn't the teacher bill of rights mean anything?

{Dream House}

I have three houses that sum up my favorite styles of houses. I'm not so much for big, more for unique or quirky.

#1
Sorry for the glare, I took these pics in the car today with my phone. This is by far my favorite house ever! It may be a bit small, but I love the front door and just the overall shape. Actually I think I could live in a cardboard box so long as I had this door attached to it. Love the archway type doors. Does anyone know the actual design name for one of those doors?

#2
This is the big white house next door to my pretty little quirky house. I just love how Southern it looks and the upstairs porch/balcony. Love love;)

#3
Now this pretty little house reminds me of the house we stayed in while we were in Great Missenden, England. If I could mash the three of these together I would have my dream house.

....................

On a side note I heard the hands down worst compliment EVER today. A guy at the meeting J had to go to told a girl that she reminded him of "ivory bar of soap because you are so pure and clean, and you smell good." What the crap kind of comment is that?!? I laugh every time I think it to myself. Way worse than the kid that called me out on my frizzy hair today.

{Bible verse}

I have two favorite verses.

She became his wife, and he loved her deeply. Gen 24:67

Yes I know that is an excerpt of the verse, but I saw it on someone's wedding program before we got married and loved it. I think I incorporated it into something at our wedding, but can't remember what it was.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:34

When Jeremy left for Africa a few years ago I opened up my bible, and just so happened to open it to this verse. Now I tend to read and reread it every time I am under stress.

{A picture you love}

I couldn't decide so I picked the top three.

#1
I like the story behind this one. I am actually horribly shy about kissing in public, so out photog didn't get a pic of kissing...it was that fast. She decided while the guest were walking to the patio we would go take a kissing pic. We also tried to get a pic of my ring bearer Lyndon kissing my on the cheak...all he wanted to do was throw bird seed at me. This is the picture my cousin Brittany got of what was actually going on while attempting to get Lyndon to kiss me haha.

#2

{photo by Jennifer Lizenby}

I love this one because my Nanny spent months telling us not to swing dance for our 1st dance because I would break my neck. I love that Jennifer caught the filp and the expression on everyone's faces as we did it... especially Nanny's. {she sure enjoyed it for all her nagging me about not doing it, I got dropped on my back in her yard btw practicing}

#3
One of my favorite engagement pics by Katie May. Loved doing our engagements!

{Goals}

Already achieved goals-

-Go to England
-Graduate college
-Get married
-Buy a car...years ago. I feel so old now.
-Don't get pregnant the first year of marriage {goal achieved haha}
-Go skiing

Now for the goals I am still working towards.

-Graduate grad school with honors {halfway there, I got accepted to Kappa Delta Pi...now to graduate in May}
-Buy a house and decorate it like Southern Living blew up in it;)
-Marry a great guy {oh wait that goes in the achieved category}
-No babies for at least 5 years.
-Move far far away from North LA.
-Go skiing as a couple
-Go to Europe as a couple
-Find a nice nursing home for my parents. {just kidding, Laura will take care of them forever haha}
-Survive teaching until it's time to retire...or win the lottery and quit.

Last but not least my main goal is to still be married to Jeremy until he is dead. He says I will die first and he will remarry several times because he will out live all of his wives {ha yeah right}. So I now have motivation to out live his butt. I am almost positive my healthy eating will cause me to live longer, so long as we do not go to the fair often. {As soon as Lara posts some fair pics on FB I will do a State Fair post...it involved some weird food} Consider this a longitudinal study of eating styles, since we have the "same" job, stress is pretty equal so that shouldn't be a factor in out living each other.

{What You Believe}

I believe that God is able. I believe he provides, is loving, and powerful...and teaches me lots of lessons.

I also believe that peanut butter balls are heavenly.

...that sleeping can't be done at any temperature above 68 degrees.

...that laughing at inappropriate situations is the way to go...except at work. That gets me in trouble.

...that I'd rather laugh than cry.

...it's a crime to make the furbabies sleep in a dog bed like they are actually dogs.

I believe in whole wheat, veggies, low fat, high fiber, low sodium...and ice cream.

I also believe that without the family I have I wouldn't be who I am or believe what I believe today. A bunch of strong willed, hard headed southern women tend to create more of the same type.

Day 8- A picture of your friends

Over time I have developed different groups of friends, some I see often, some I sometimes see, and some I see when they make their way into this state. Old, new, yada yada.

There are the old friends.
Most of the people in this pic are Vidalia crowd circa kindergarten. Except for Jeremy and Jnathan's little sister...and the people at Ryan's wedding we didn't know. From Jeremy to Travis you have {Jer, Emily, Stephanie, me, Jonathan, & Travis}.

Then there are the other friends you make in elementary school.
{Me, Ryan, & Britt}
I met Ryan in kindergarten and Britt the first day of 2nd grade.

You also tend to add to that group in high school. Some of which agree to be in your wedding, others are blood related;)
{Brandi, Laura, me, Gabby, & Britt}
My loving sister, always one to ruin a pic, squeezed the mess out of me...as you can tell.

You also meet people while you are working at a restaurant in college.
They also come to your wedding.
{Me, Bekah, Anna, & the one I didn't meet at a job...Binkly}
Luckily those Presbyterian's know how to party....poor Binkly is a Baptist and is attempting like the rest of us to dance.

Then you meet people after the wedding in your first experience with a couple's Sunday School class.
{us with our friends Lara and Cole + her sister and friends & TFK at a TFK concert}

Not to leave out the ones you have tried to sell to passer's by for a quarter, but you know how that goes.
The God given friend who you are stuck with no matter what, who also happens to have a thing for ruining pictures....my sister Laura.
{wedding pics were hijacked from our photog Jennifer Lizenby's Facebook}

Day 10- Something you're afraid of.

Easy.

Lizards.

Clowns.

Driving at night.

Big dogs that are unpredictable.

Not graduating or having a job.

Pain.

Kids/Childbirth

5th Graders

Snakes.

Need I continue with this?

{A Place I've Traveled To}

It has been awhile since I've really traveled anywhere. But for our honeymoon we went to the Bahamas and Orlando.

{snorkeling in Nassau}
{Epcot}

Several...SEVERAL years ago I went to England with the puppet team I was on for a mission trip. We stayed in Great Missenden mainly.

I don't have any of my pictures with me, but this is a pic I pulled offline from the main street that runs through the town. Going down that street on a charter bus was quite scary. We did however, spend one day in London where I threw up in a McDonald's in...
...Trafalgar Square. I have never been so scared of pigeons in my life, and there were those horrible birds everywhere.

I did get to go skiing in Colorado with our church group one Christmas break.
Those were the trips I enjoyed the most. There were more...but no one feels like blogging after a long day do they;)

{Favorite Movies}

Easy peasy. I tend to not remember movies to save my life. I also am very traditional with my movies, as in I have to watch the same thing on certain holidays.

1. Rock Horror Picture Show
Don't ask me why but I love some Tim Curry! Even in drag I think he is sexy, especially that accent. Love some British men. I can quote and sing along with this whole vulgar movie;)

2. Hocus Pocus
I have loved Sara Jessica Parker since I was a kid.

3.Help!

Obsessed with the Beatles. Enough said.

4. Sex and the City the Movie/and the show
Once again, love some SJP.

These are movies I have actually stayed awake through haha.Oh and I almost forgot one

5. It
This movie is actually #3 on my must watch Halloween list. The other two are at the top.

{Picture of Something that Makes You Happy}

Nothing on earth makes me happier than homemade ice cream and watching Jeremy play with/get attacked by the baby.
Joshua loves to pull his hair, even more than he loves to pull mine. By the way, yesterday the little booger stood up for the first time, several time at my house. Something about carpet makes him perform new tricks.
I also laugh constantly at the shenanigans of these two weenie devils.

{Siblings}

I just have one. That I know of. There is a chance there could be more of us but they were lost at WalMart. Just kidding, but my Mom did lose me a few times.
{photo by twosuez.com}

Anyway I have one sister, Laura. We are polar opposite and fought for the better part of our lives. We have recently started to get along much better...but still disagree about a bunch of junk. She was the borderline emo teenager who has anxiety, dates the wrong guys, and has a really good sense of humor. We are seriously either laughing or yelling at each other. No in between. When she was close to giving birth, we were at one of her last appointments and I was cracking jokes at her and making her laugh while they were checking her and the nurse freaked out because she said the head was bulging while she was laughing at me. We now attribute her short labor to the fact we were looking at peopleofwalmart.com the night she went into labor. She literally laughed the baby out. She is a really good mom by the way, I was quite surprised how someone who had never held a baby could be so motherly so quick.

Love my argumentative sister.

1.   Blogging is       a great way to write down what has been happening and what I think. It is fun going back and looking at what I was doing the year before. It is also a great way to meet wonderful Christian women;)    .

2.  A current fashion trend I wish I was brave enough to wear is   all those beautiful boots to work. A lot of the stuff that is out just doesn't seem do-able for teaching. I love clothes but I don't dress exactly how I'd like, maybe more accessories and layers. .

3.  My greatest accomplishment in life thus far is       graduating from college, and it will be graduating with a Master's degree in May    .

4.  If I had to choose between a mountain or a beach vacation I'd choose     mountain, the beach can be so dull after the first day or two .

5.  A talent I wish I had is      being able to find and put together amazing outfits every day and do my hair really well. I feel like I've had the same hair and makeup for years .

6.  A talent I do have is       I use to play the clairnet    .

7.  This week       was pure insanity, people are nuts these days. Sometimes I want to get a different job after I graduate     .

{Parents}

Love them, when I was a kid I would have traded anything for a Mom that wasn't so involved in school and a Dad that didn't think tickling me until I about peed on myself. Now my Mom is my best friend, and Dad is still Dad. The old guy that gets a kick out of stirring things up and picking on people. Gotta love them though.
{pic circa 1991}

The two "old" people I call parents are Mike and Lisa. My Mom is a assistant principal, who taught 1t grade for years, and my Dad is retired from Angola State Prison. He might not be the tallest old dude ever, but prisoners are scared of him{haha}. Humor has always been big at our house and could sometimes get you out of trouble. Once my Mom told my Dad to spank me {the only time}, he went to pull off his belt so I pulled off mine and said "If you hit me I'm hitting you back." He started laughing so hard he couldn't do it. Mom was definitely the bad guy growing up.
