Day 1: Introduce, recent pic, 15 interesting facts.
As many of you already know I am Emily, I am from {and still live in} Louisiana...hence the blog title. I am currently a graduate student at ULM and will be graduating in May, whoo hoo! I'm getting a Masters of Arts in Teaching though an alternative program, I was a Psych major in undergrad. I was married to a great guy, Jeremy, about a year and a half ago in my hometown at a beautiful plantation. I have two wacky weenie dogs who are my furbabies, I love them like actual children. They get into tons of trouble, and despite Jeremy's desire to ditch the little one, Maddie, when she was a insane puppy who literally chewed us out of house and home I petitioned and she is now a lovely 2 yr old weenie who chews us out of house and home. Ellie on the other hand is my darling who loves me dearly and doesn't understand why I brought the other two home {i.e. Jeremy, and Maddie}. Oh, I also am in my second year of teaching 5th grade. Last year I taught ELA and loved it...now I am teaching Science and Social Studies and it is a learning experience.
Now for a recent picture....it would be more recent but my Mom hasn't emailed me the pics from the Kappa Delta Pi convocation last Tuesday yet.
15 Interesting Facts:
- I have been sleeping with the same pillow in a pink pillow case since I was about a month old. Yes, weird. My mother thinks I should ditch it, but at this point it is more tradition than anything.
- Speaking of pillows I also have to sleep with a pillow between my knees. If they touch I wake up. It started on my trip to England.
- Which is another fact...when I was 14 I went to Great Missenden, England on a mission trip. I was dead sick the whole time but it was the best 10 days of my life an make up a lot of who I am and what I believe.
- I hate, like seriously HATE country music. Which I shouldn't because my Pop plays in a country band...but the country doesn't stop me from listening to it when it plays.
- I eat sugar free jello like a crack head because it doesn't have any WW value.
- I love coffee, but caffine makes my eyes twitch. To the point where students comment on it.
- I like to go to bed at 9. Any later and I am miserable the next day no matter how many hours I get.
- My first car was a 1990 Dodge Caravan, I left the windows down and the keys in it every day hoping it would get stolen by a run away convict.
- This may sound kinda creepy. My beautiful Lincoln rocking chair in my guest room was my grandparents and was reupholstered by my Nanny and Pop. They finished it the night Nanny died. They actually finished and emailed me a pic of it at 11pm. And she died around 3am. I miss her but I can sit in my chair and read and remember that one of the very last things she did was for me.
- I use History channel as a sleep aid.
- If I could eat cake and dessert all day long instead of real food and be skinny I totally would. I wish ice cream was the new whole wheat.
- I started dating Jeremy after sending him death threats in psych class via text. We were scheduled to do our presentation the same day and I wanted him to go first. My threats earned me extra time.
- I can't run. My body is seriously against it. Three steps in and I am dead. But I can Zumba until my eyes pop out. Makes no sense. I figure dance is a way to exercise and fake my body out that exercise is actually taking place.
- The car I drove through college was hit-n-run 5 times in 5 months.
- I use to be addicted to Food Network, now I am addicted to food blogs. When I am eating I think about my next meal and when I am grading papers I am also making a grocery list. The food thought cycle is unending.
If you decided to join in the fun let me know so I can read your posts too. I think this whole thing started over at SITS awhile back. I wanted to join then...but I was being lazy;)
